We are pleased to invite you to the XII Geant4 International School, with a focus on medical applications. The school will be held from 25 to 29 November 2024, at the Extreme Light Infrastructure - Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP) facility in Magurele-Bucharest, Romania, in collaboration with the Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (LNS) of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN).
ELI-NP is the most advanced research facility in the world in the field of photonuclear physics, an interdisciplinary research field which brings together high-power lasers and nuclear physics.
We aim to bring together leading experts and young researchers working from high energy, nuclear and accelerator physics, to medical and space science. It provides a unique environment for learning, sharing, and discussing the advancements of the Geant4 toolkit with special lectures dedicated to medical applications.
The School will consist of several extended lecture courses given by experts in the field, starting from a basic to a medium level on how to simulate any setup or detector and radiation source, and record chosen output of physical quantities due to source particles and secondaries interacting with the material of the setup. Practical sessions will guide each participant to build an example Geant4 application that is progressively extended to demonstrate a realistic use case.
The course is intended for novices and those with limited familiarity with Geant4. Participants are expected to have a basic knowledge of C++.
At the end of the school, there will be a test to evaluate the participants' understanding and application of the material covered. Successful participants will receive a certification acknowledging their completion of the course.
