Description
Heavy-ion fusion reactions between light nuclei, such as carbon and oxygen isotopes, together with α-induced reactions, play a fundamental role in nuclear astrophysics, governing a wide range of stellar burning processes and nucleosynthesis pathways. Experimental investigations of α-induced reactions on natural Zn and Ni targets and 13C-induced reactions on natural graphite targets were performed at sub-Coulomb energies using the 3 MV Tandetron™ accelerator. High-sensitivity offline measurements of the reaction products were conducted in the local laboratory and in the ultra-low-background laboratory Bq, located in a salt mine.
